Preparation for end of primary exams is important as children move on to establish themselves in their secondary education.
I have experience of supporting children through both the 11 plus system and in their year 6 SATs.
11 plus
I am familiar with the different approaches of the 11 plus systems in both Bexley and Kent, which follow the CEM and GL examination boards respectively.
These exams set a particularly high standard for children seeking entry to grammar schools from out of borough. Focused preparation for both the content and the methods of these exams can improve a child’s confidence when it comes to sitting the test.
I focus on establishing a good grasp of core concepts that will be tested, and on practice in the ways that questions are asked.
SATs
Sitting the primary SATs tests can be stressful for children. I aim to support them in preparation for what may be the first big exam moment of their school careers.
This can be through focusing on areas where they need extra grounding, and in practising the kind of questions they will come across in the exam.
